Preparing artwork for print and digital release
Good design delivery is not just the final image. It is the right set of files for the places the artwork needs to go.
Use suitable resolution
Print and digital exports have different requirements. A web image may be too small for print, while a print file may be unnecessarily large for social upload.
Add bleed and safe areas for print
Posters, sleeves and flyers usually need bleed so artwork reaches the edge after trimming. Important text should stay inside the safe area.
Understand colour differences
Screen and print colour can differ. The artwork should be prepared with the intended output in mind and checked before ordering a full print run.
Export the right file types
Common deliverables can include print-ready PDF, high-resolution JPEG or PNG, web-size images, transparent assets and editable working files where agreed.
Name files clearly
Clear file names reduce errors when sending artwork to printers, distributors, venues or collaborators. Include format, size and version where useful.
