Live performance guide

How to turn one live performance recording into social media content

A live recording can become more than one file. With the right edit plan, it can support a whole round of promotion.

Identify moments that work without context

Not every strong stage moment becomes a good social clip. Look for clean setups, visual clarity, concise jokes, a clear song section or a line that communicates the tone quickly.

Cut for platform and orientation

A theatre archive is usually horizontal and long-form. Social content may need square, vertical or short horizontal versions, with titles and captions that make sense without the viewer knowing the show.

Build shorter edits with a different rhythm

A reel or teaser should not feel like a random extract. It needs its own opening, progression and ending, even if it is built entirely from the live recording.

Use captions where speech matters

Comedy, spoken word and theatre clips often need captions because many viewers watch without sound. Captions also help names, dates and venue information carry through the edit.

Think in batches

One recording can become a full show file, a short trailer, individual performer clips, quote cards, stills and vertical moments. Planning batches helps a show stay visible after the performance date.

Make more from a show recording

Reeka Studios can edit live recordings into full-length files, trailers, reels and platform-ready clips.
