What to prepare before a live show recording

Define the deliverables first

Confirm whether you need a full archival recording, a public-facing edit, a trailer, vertical social clips, stills, subtitles or a mixture. This affects the filming setup and how the edit is approached.

Share the schedule and running order

Send call times, performance time, interval details, get-out limits and any venue access rules. If there are key scenes, songs or guest performers, flag them before the show.

Confirm venue permissions

Make sure the venue knows where cameras may be placed, when the crew can enter, whether power is available, and whether recording from the sound desk is possible.

Check performer and music permissions

If the recording will be published, confirm who needs to approve it and whether any music, projected material or guest appearances affect usage. This is easier to resolve before editing begins.

Agree delivery formats

A private archive file, a press clip and a vertical Instagram reel are different outputs. Agree formats, deadlines and review routes so the post-production stage is not guessing.
