Reeka Studios developed the concept, photography and artwork for Committed to Bitterness by Plateface, building the visual direction around one of the song’s central lyrics: “Are your keks on fire?”

The shoot took that line literally, turning it into a practical image-making process. Reeka Studios tied together pairs of Y-front pants, set them alight and photographed them as they slowly burned and deteriorated. The final artwork was created as a composite from the strongest takes, shaping the image into a heightened but grounded visual interpretation of the song.

The project was shot on 35mm film to bring in a sense of nostalgia, roughness and memory, reflecting the themes of the track and giving the image a more tactile, lived-in quality. The setting, a council-estate-style garden, was chosen to further connect the artwork to the world of the song and keep the image rooted in a recognisable working-class environment.

Although the release was eventually delayed and never formally came out, the artwork remains one of Reeka Studios’ strongest cover art pieces: a direct, practical and concept-led image built from the language of the song itself.
